Beautiful Gems

"I reward myself with jewellery, a chain, a watch, a ring." BEAUTIFUL GIRLS hitmaker SEAN KINGSTON uses his chart success to increase his diamond collection.

We Don't Need Any Stinking Money

from contact...
JON BON JOVI is so content with making new albums and touring that he doesn't need chart success to make him happy. The Bon Jovi rocker admits the band will never be as popular as they were in their 1980s heyday, but they don't care as long as they can continue to make a living out of music.

He says, "It's not about having to prove anything any more. I think we feel that less and less with each album - we know what we've achieved." He adds, "It's important we experiment. Without experimentation there wouldn't be growth, and you risk becoming something of a nostalgia act, trying to repeat past successes."

Mo Bad News For Winehouse

from sun...

AMY WINEHOUSE has been banned from no-strings visits to her jailbird husband after he failed a drugs test.

The troubled singer can now only see BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL, 25, from behind a glass screen with no physical contact.

The move by London’s Pentonville prison, where Fielder-Civil is awaiting trial over assault and trial-fixing allegations, comes after he tested positive last week for a Class A drug, thought to be heroin.

We Bought It

Singer JOSH GROBAN has scored a new record on the U.S. album charts by becoming the first artist to claim four consecutive weeks at number one with a Christmas album. Josh tied Elvis Presley's three-week record last week and now stands alone as the Billboard 200's Mr. Christmas.

His seasonal album, Noel, shifted an astonishing 669,000 copies last week, giving Groban an additional Christmas bonus - with a 2.77 million sales tally, the album has surpassed Daughtry's self-titled debut and the High School Musical 2 soundtrack to become America's top-selling album of 2007. †

Grohl Still Feelin The Pain

Former NIRVANA drummer DAVE GROHL never listens to his old band's music, because it reminds him of the pain he felt when frontman KURT COBAIN died.
Even 13 years after Cobain committed suicide in 1994, Grohl finds it an "effort" to listen to hits like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Lithium on the radio. He says, "I immediately remember what it was like the day we recorded-It's like opening a box of old pictures, and I don't like to do that too often."

Look Maw, I am Writin A Book

Britney Spears has created enough bizarre stories to fill a book -- and now she's planning on writing one. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Brit Brit won't be writing a straight-ahead autobiography -- she plans on interviewing herself and a number of her pals on how difficult it is to be a celebrity. In a rare moment of clarity, Spears told an associate she's taking the unorthodox approach "because I'm not that well educated -- at least formally."

They Told Her No, No, No

Amy Winehouse went to visit her husband in prison the other day -- but arrived after visiting hours had ended. A source says, "She was crying and pleading with prison officials to let her in because she's desperate to see him, but they were having none of it. They just told her if she wants to see him, she should turn up on time like all the other visitors."

John Mayer 3 Hour Show

When John Mayer promises a special show, he really delivers. The singer-guitarist staged a three-set, three-hour holiday show in Los Angeles on Saturday night, devoting one set to each aspect of his sound. Kicking off with an acoustic set, Mayer joked, "It's a real honor to be opening for myself. I ran into myself backstage and I was very nice -- and, I mean, I'm huge!"

He followed that with a set by his blues trio, covering Jimi Hendrix and some blues standards, and wound down the performance with a long set backed by a band that had grown to 10 musicians by the end of the evening. For those who couldn't make it out to L-A, the show will be released on D-V-D next year.

JT Movin To Dubai?

Justin Timberlake is said to be considering building his "dream home" in the Arabic state of Dubai, where many European celebrities have vacation houses. According to London's Daily Star, the singer, who played a sold-out show in Dubai last week, has put down a deposit on a plot of land and is looking for an architect to draw up plans.

A source tells the Star that Timberlake said, "It's a really amazing culture. I got to watch the sunset last night and that was just incredible. I really love it here."

Pete Is Unhappy

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz has hit at the Grammy Awards after his group failed to pick up a single nomination for the music industry back-patting event. The bassist used Fall Out Boy's journal on their official website to vent his frustration at the snubbing under the title ‘got bitterness? vs. a revelation on true connection (and the award goes to).'

With mixed feelings, he writes (typos and all): "the first reaction is jealousy mixed with a slight sense of entitlement. we just want to be a part of your club. we feel like the orphans in the movie the warriors, when we are just dying to be the baseball furies. the truth be told though when you explore it further than that you realize much more. other than the fact that we play the events for you and the right parties all the time (which is a bit embarrassing either for you or us, not sure which, possibly both. its kind of like being invited to a birthday party and then not allowed to eat the cake.)- it shouldnt mean much. (almost) noone in this industry has vision beyond the fear that this week is their last pay check.

"we want our songs to be immortal and a statue doesnt do anything to help them live forever. it is the people that live and die with them in their ears and throats that give them life. we wont lie to you, accolades from our peers feel great. however, a fifty year old white man shouldnt decide whether we are relevant or not- and he doesn't. we wanted to thank you for making us feel relevant- for sitting up all night to get into our shows and for buying our music. it means more in the wake of moments like this. we know who we are based on those who would walk through hell with us. this is not a disappointment, rather a revelation on what is truly important. Thanks."

Kanye West leads this year's nominations with eight, Amy Winehouse has six, while Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and T-Pain all picked up five.

The 2008 Grammy Awards take place on February 11 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles

Green Day Undercover?

GREEN DAY have prompted rumours of a secret side project, after fans realized new music released under the name FOXBORO HOT TUBS sounded remarkably like the band.

The group are currently working on a follow-up to their 2004 disc, American Idiot, but the stark similarities in vocals between Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong and those on the Foxboro Hot Tubs’ EP have got Internet blogs wondering whether the Holiday hitmakers have gone undercover to experiment with a new 1960s-inspired sound.
If Green Day are proven to be behind the Foxboro Hot Tubs, it would not be the first time they have released tracks under a pseudonym - in 2003, Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt dropped their techno release, Money Money 2020, under the name The Network.

Wouldn't Have Guessed This One

Carrie Underwood is terrified of being attacked when she returns to her former college in Oklahoma - because she was a figure of hate throughout her education there.

Carrie was so unpopular during her time at Northeastern State University, she fears students there may try to hurt her if she goes back to visit. She tells New York Daily News, "It's scary, I don't really get the warmest of receptions when I go back. I know somebody could come up and try to... hit me, hurt me, just to say they did it.

Madonna Gets Help

Kanye West and Pharrell Williams are among the producers working on the upcoming Madonna disc, Give It to Me, according to RollingStone-dot-com.

Madonna revealed the news earlier this week at an exclusive listening event. West produced a track titled "The Beat Goes On" and tweaked an older, unreleased track called "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You." Madonna is eyeing the last week of April for a release.

Pat Counts Sheep

As frontman for Train and now as a solo artist, Pat Monahan certainly has to be concerned about taking good care of his voice. But, as the singer told us, he’s got a pretty simple remedy to make sure he can perform night after night.

“I take care of my voice by, you know, watching what I put in my body. I really believe that your body is your temple. You have to take care of it as though it’s the most sacred thing you because it is. And… but I don’t have to not speak. I just have to get a nice sleep. Sleep is really important to my throat.”
