When John Mayer promises a special show, he really delivers. The singer-guitarist staged a three-set, three-hour holiday show in Los Angeles on Saturday night, devoting one set to each aspect of his sound. Kicking off with an acoustic set, Mayer joked, "It's a real honor to be opening for myself. I ran into myself backstage and I was very nice -- and, I mean, I'm huge!"He followed that with a set by his blues trio, covering Jimi Hendrix and some blues standards, and wound down the performance with a long set backed by a band that had grown to 10 musicians by the end of the evening. For those who couldn't make it out to L-A, the show will be released on D-V-D next year.
