Vanessa's Laptop Flys
Vanessa Carlton has updated her blog on her MySpace page, admitting that it has been far too long since she wrote. The singer does have an excuse though. She says, “One lame excuse (though totally for reals), my laptop flew off the roof of my rental car (Prius) at 60 mph. I, of course, thought a bird had flown into my rear window and screeched the car to a halt, slightly traumatized and ready for some birdie rescue. much to my dismay, my 4-year-old laptop was sitting in the middle of the street jolted to it's open position.
It works intermittently. I still use it. I just can’t let it go. sad.” We’ll probably be hearing more from Vanessa as the days wear on; her new album, Heroes & Thieves, comes out October 9th. To read the post, hit up MySpace.com/VanessaCarlton.

Jessica's Creepy Dad
Jessica Simpson’s creepy father, Joe, told Fox News that his daughter is going to be a country star. Apparently, her next album will be country and she’ll record it in Nashville. “Willie Nelson really likes her,” he said, “We’re going to go down there and really get into it.”
Before making the album, Jessica is scheduled to make a movie where she plays a biker chick with tattoos.

KT Songs On New Record Have Been Written For Awhile
KT Tunstall wrote many of the songs released on her new album, Drastic Fantastic, while she was writing songs for her first record, Eye To The Telescope. "I would say like half of the album was written around the time I was writing the Eye To The Telescope stuff as well. Particularly tunes like ‘Saving my Face’ and ‘If Only’ were tunes that I knew were going to go on the second album or I hope were going to work on the second album.”
KT said she held off on many of the tunes she wrote because she wanted Eye To the Telescope to have a very singer-songwriter feel. Her new album, Drastic Fantastic, has a whole different feel, and fans can pick it up in stores now.

A Long Vacation Upcoming
To say that Nickelback’s 2005 album All the Right Reasons has been a success would be an understatement. The album is still on the Billboard top ten after 102 weeks, selling almost 6-million copies. So when will the guys start the follow-up?
According to bassist Mike Kroeger, not any time soon. “I think it’s probably time for us to sort of fade into the shadows for a little bit and give everybody a breather before we come out with out next stuff.” Mike went on to say that an early return would be “a mistake.”
My inside sources say that Nickleback is going to take two years off.

KT Passes Up $$
Scottish singer KT TUNSTALL has refused to allow one of her songs to be used in a meat commercial - because she is vegetarian. The Suddenly I See hitmaker was approached by a Norwegian ham company for permission to use one of her tracks, but despite its money-making potential, the star declined to endorsement.
She says, "I'm a vegetarian. "My manager takes care of these things, but he does tell me everything, because he knows I'll have a good laugh with most of it."

Kat McPhee On Her Next CD
American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee doesn't want her sophomore album to duplicate the sound on her debut. Kat tells M-T-V, "I'll probably be making a much different record next time around -- maybe something more adult.
I definitely have thoughts and ideas -- maybe more like the female version of John Mayer. The wheels are turning.

Amy Writes From Pain
Amy Winehouse's cd "Back to Black" is all about heartbreak. The title comes from the feeling when people fall back to when they break up with someone.
Most of the songs are about real men in Amy's past and the breakups. Ever wonder how that makes the guys feel?
“I guess guys I’ve written about have been like, ‘Why’d you do that?’ And I’m like, ‘I was hurt.’ Do you know what I mean? I wrote a song about how hurt I was, if that’s alright.”
Madden Will Pop The Question
Joel Madden of Good Charlotte said yesterday that he plans on marrying Nicole Richie. He said "Obviously, marriage is in our future. I don't know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and is the baby. That's all we have been thinking about. We are in love and are really happy."

Pat Monahan Plays in the Park
Pat Monahan did something pretty special on Friday night. The Train front man, and now solo artist, went to Washington Square Park in New York with some of his new band and just started playing.
After a few songs, a rather large crowd formed. Pat ended up playing for two hours for 300 people, and a homeless man even joined him on the conga drums.
Pat’s solo cd, Last of Seven, is out today.

Plain White T's Love Their Fans!
I found this story about the Plain White T's and thought it was very cool:
PLAIN WHITE T'S are convinced they have the best fans in the world - after they turned a nightmare into a Christmas miracle. The band's equipment was stolen from their tour van late last year (06) and the group members faced a bleak Christmas with nothing to play. But, after appealing to fans to help cheer them up, they were inundated with well wishes and cash.
Singer Tom Higgenson explains, "Fans heard about it and they wanted to help, so we made a little PO Box and we said, 'If anybody wants to send us cards or anything, here's a PO Box.' "We didn't expect money but a lot of people (sent it). It was overwhelming the stuff that came in... Some kid sent, like, $5 and it was his allowance for the month, or something."

New Music from Panic at the Disco?
Las Vegas band Panic at the Disco have been working on the follow-up to their smash debut album A Fever You Cant Sweat Out for a long time now, but according to MTV News, the guys are back to the drawing board. The band had written a new album, but by July decided to scrap what they had and start again.
Guitarist Ryan Ross claims that the material they’d written sounded too much like a film score so they decided it was time to try again. And when will we hear the actual album? The guys say they hope to have it out by February 2008.

JT and Tim Waiting for an Apology
Timbaland and Justin Timberlake were willing to collaborate with Britney Spears to help her have a successful comeback but Spears backed out. Timbaland claimed all it would take to have him and J.T. back on Britney’s side would be an apology.
Timbaland said "She should humble herself and make a phone call and say, 'I'm sorry.' She knows what she's sorry about. She needs to say, 'I was wrong,' and it'll definitely move forward... That's all she has to say."

How Kelly Deals
Kelly Clarkson describes herself as "a very happy person" and says she works out her sadness, loneliness and regret in her songwriting.
She says, "I tend to write, I think like everyone, therapeutically, so it's like you're writing in your journal. So, I tend to write a little more about the negative things in my life just to get it out, so it's not in me."
Kelly will kick off a tour in support of her latest CD, My December, on October 10th in Verona, New York.

Kid Rock and Tommy Lee Love Texting Each Other
Kid Rock and Tommy Lee first fell out when Tommy started sending Kid disrespectful text messages from Pamela Anderson's Blackberry.
Kid says..."When Pam and I were going through our divorce he...starts e-mailing me how much of a (wimp) I am. "I calmly told him... 'listen, I will see you again.' I said 'You know this has nothing to do with you.' And that was the end of it because I don't talk.
Kid said that he had hoped Lee would apologise and when he saw him at the VMAs he decided to confront Tommy. "I'm like, 'You've seen me plenty of times.' It's always something, it's always an excuse. And this would be a great opportunity for him to go, 'You know what, I did run my mouth, I'm going to be a man about it, take my lumps, and now I'm gonna shut up and it's over.' But I'm sure he's not that smart"
